Predicting expansion is always a difficult task, some may say impossible.

What Electron does is get you back to square one, to the days when you liked your Comm’s room and could see the wood for the trees.

In this case the school had installed large floor standing units, but had only chosen 600mm wide cabinets. This size of cabinet has no vertical cable management for patch-leads, hence they hang in the front of all the panels/equipment. Over time this becomes unmanageable and turns into a large tangled mess. It is surprising to many, how much air flow the patchleads can block, heating up the equipment and causing port failure.

Sofitel Gets IPTV Installed By Electron

Located in the former home of Cox and King’s bank, the grade II listed Sofitel St James is one of London’s most distinctive five star hotels. The 125,000 square foot building has been sympathetically renovated to provide 186 rooms, 10 conferencing suites and an award winning restaurant.

As part of its regular programme of upgrades and refurbishment, St James’ wanted to deliver IPTV services throughout the hotel. Offering 110 television channels, video and music on demand as well as internet over television, this was a service designed to appeal to its visitors.

Electron Cables Refurbished Roundhouse Theatre

Following a £28 million refurbishment the Roundhouse Theatre in Camden, London has become a spectacular venue for many forms of the performance arts, including drama, music and dance. The Grade II listed building was built originally as a steam engine repair shed. However, the Roundhouse became a legendary venue in the sixties and seventies, hosting concerts by the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and The Doors as well as theatrical events by directors including Peter Brook and the Living Theatre from New York. In 1983 it closed and remained empty for many years until the Roundhouse Trust was formed in 1996 and its redevelopment began, headed by toy millionaire Torquil Norman.

Aston University has an excellent reputation for its Post Graduate courses and, in order to enhance the facilities for students and lecturers, has recently completed a £20 million project to refurbish and extend the Nelson Building in the heart of the campus. This state of the art facility comprises a 163 bedroom hotel, 260 seat restaurant, bar, lounge, business support centre, reception area and fully equipped conference and meeting rooms, all built around an open courtyard setting. The building also houses Post Graduate student study areas and teaching staff offices.

Traditional wired solutions were not considered to be viable due to the disruption involved in providing cabling to each room as well as issues regarding billing.
