The fashion retail market is one of the fastest changing and highest throughput sectors on the high street. In order to stay one step ahead of the competition leading retailer Oasis Stores Ltd, part of the Mosaic Fashion Group, needed to increase its office and warehouse facilities due to an increased number of lines and the recent acquisitions of Coast, Karen Miller and Whistles. A purpose designed and built facility was constructed close to the existing warehouse, just outside Oxford, with a 3 level mezzanine, 100,000 sq m warehouse and 4,000 sq m of offices over three floors.

Air Movement Group Get Their Comms Room Moving!

Air Movement Group (AMG) in Dudley had a common problem in their main computer room. The cabinet that had been originally installed to house their network equipment and cabling had grown into a requirement for two cabinets. Unfortunately the second cabinet could not be installed adjacent to the original one.

The second cabinet was therefore installed off line to the original. As more cabling was installed into the new cabinet the patch cords became unmanageable and very untidy. In the ‘before’ picture the original cabinet is the one set back in the alcove. As can be seen in the photograph the patch cords actually loop in and out of the cabinets via the front doors. This problem was about to be compounded.

Originally cabled by a local electrical contractor, Antenna Audio had a in place a low cost/low performance cabling infrastructure which they themselves had identified would not meet the company’s growing IT demands in the future and, in fact, was also struggling to cope with today’s relative low data traffic speeds.

Aston University – An Award Winning Project

Aston University is one of the oldest and best respected places of further education in Birmingham. The campus sits in the heart of the UK’s second city, less than 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Aston University caters for around 7,500 students, studying more than 120 different undergraduate courses and more than 80 postgraduate courses. There are 1,200 staff and 18 buildings spread across the 200 acre site.

The St. Neots site in Cambridge Give Electron An Interesting Challenge

Electron undertook the design and installation of an Enhanced Category 5 cabling infrastructure of several sites for Collins and Aikman Automotive Systems Limited (formerly part of the BTR Group).

The St. Neots site in Cambridge gave Electron an interesting challenge; a remote office from their main site with a requirement for P.C’s to be networked across the 2 sites. The problem facing Electron was how to achieve this with both public highways and private properties between the 2 sites.
